Stewart took his first portrait – of his grandparents sitting in lawn chairs – with a Kodak Brownie based on the 1939 New York World’s Fair design. He was 9.

He continues his camera work, taking portraits and shooting events for clients that have included Bill T. Jones Dance Company, The Joyce Theater, Brooklyn Academy of Music, Bank of America, National Urban Fellows and The Warren Alpert Medical School of Brown University. His subjects have ranged from streaking summer campers to distinguished medical school deans.

Stewart takes portraits of individuals, couples and families. He shoots a variety of events, from weddings and dance performances to gala cocktail parties and corporate presentations.
